Refutation of false information regarding the activities of NNEGC “Energoatom”, disseminated by the People's Deputy of Ukraine Zheleznyak
Concerning another dissemination by the People's Deputy of Ukraine Zheleznyak of false information regarding the receipt of additional income by JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom’ in connection with the increase in electricity tariffs for the public, we inform you that not a single additional hryvnia from the increased tariffs will go to NNEGC.
Under the ordinance of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 483 "On Approval of the Provision on Imposing Special Obligations on Electricity Market Participants to Ensure General Public Interests in the Operation of the Electricity Market", Energoatom carefully fulfills its special obligations to supply electricity to the public at a fixed tariff (hereinafter referred to as the PSO service), compensating for the difference between tariffs for the public and the market price and directing almost 60% of its net income for these purposes.
Thus, in 2024 JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” has already paid UAH 133.9 bln for the PSO service!
Furthermore, UAH 14.6 bln was transferred to repay the PSO debt that arose in 2022-2023.
If there were no necessity for Energoatom to fulfill its PSO obligations, 90% of these funds would be transferred to the state budget under the legislation.
Energoatom, as the largest and most reliable electricity producer, will continue to cover the difference in market and actual tariffs for the public with its own funds.
Please note that Energoatom has already published this information repeatedly.
However, the People's Deputy Zheleznyak again misleads the public, confusing the concept of transferring NNEGC revenues to the budget with its economic activity. There is no “scheme” for evading the transfer of revenues to the state budget that Zheleznyak invents.
We also refute the accusations of this People's Deputy regarding the revaluation of the assets of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”.
As is known, a mandatory element of corporatization according to the legislation is the revaluation of assets, which was performed by an international auditor within the framework of the Company’s corporatization program. This happened long before the Government increased electricity tariffs, namely on October 31, 2023, and is in no way related to this.
The revaluation of fixed assets was carried out under the Law of Ukraine “On Joint-Stock Company “National Nuclear Energy Generating Company “Energoatom” upon the transformation of the State Enterprise “National Nuclear Energy Generating Company “Energoatom” into a joint-stock company and in compliance with the requirements of the Law of Ukraine “On Accounting and Financial Reporting in Ukraine” to reflect fixed assets in the balance sheet of the joint-stock company at fair value by international financial reporting standards.
Given that attempts to disseminate false information that is of a deceptive nature and may be related to lobbying the interests of private energy companies have recently become more frequent, we urge media representatives to carefully check the information before publishing materials regarding the activities of NNEGC “Energoatom” and to contact us directly for comments.
