Energoatom cooperates with the Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (DSA) to implement European standards in the field of nuclear safety and security
On May 9, a meeting of Petro Kotin, head of NNEGC «Energoatom», with the team of the Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (DSA), headed by Director General Per Strand, was held in the office of Energoatom.
Last year, Energoatom initiated the establishment of a new certification body for non-destructive testing as part of its separate division and received full support and additional funding for the implementation of that task with the help of European partners.
The parties discussed:
- strengthening of cooperation in implementation of modern non-destructive testing systems (successfully implemented at RNPP, work started at SUNPP and KhNPP);
- establishment of the Body for certification of operational non-destructive testing systems on the basis of one of the NNEGC branches in accordance with the best international practices;
- physical and cyber protection of national nuclear sites.
«We are enhancing cooperation with Norwegian partners. Nuclear power industry will continue to be the basis for energy supply, therefore the protection of NPPs and the implementation of European standards in the field of nuclear safety and security are very important for Ukraine,» Petro Kotin stated.
The head of Energoatom thanked the delegation from Norway for their visit and long-term support for Ukraine, in particular, for termination of DSA's cooperation with the aggressor country. In his turn, Per Strand stressed the importance of cooperation with Ukraine for the Norwegian Authority.
