Due to electricity surplus, Ukrainian NPPs are operating at reduced power
For the second consecutive week, there is an electricity surplus in the Ukrainian power system. Thus, several units of nuclear power plants are operating at reduced power, and Energoatom is preparing them for scheduled outages.
The maintenance campaign in the nuclear industry was planned to start on March 13.
However, the current situation allows starting it 5 days earlier, on March 8. This would enable preparing nuclear power units for the 2024/25 autumn-winter operation period faster and optimizing repair and maintenance schedules, including refueling.
The maximum optimization of the repair schedule will allow Ukrainians to have a stable electricity supply both in summer and during the next heating season.
As of March 7, Ukrainian NPPs generate 6,950 MW, which is the largest amount among all generations. Nuclear power plants operate smoothly and reliably.
