ZNPP is one step away from blackout again given the sole power line is available
The visit of the IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to Europe’s largest nuclear facility – the ZNPP – did not encourage the russian occupationists to stop creating threats to nuclear and radiation safety. Due to their shelling, the 330 kV Ferosplavna-1 overhead power line, one of the two available, was disconnected.
Currently, the sole external 750 kV Dniprovska overhead power line remains in operation, linking the ZNPP to the unified energy system of Ukraine and providing power for the plant's in-house needs.
In case of this line failure, Europe’s largest nuclear power plant experiences another complete blackout, which is a severe violation of the conditions of safe operation of the power plant and threatens the development of an accident!
"The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant should immediately come under the full control of Ukraine, its legitimate operator – Energoatom. russia should withdraw its soldiers and military equipment from the power plant. Unqualified russian technical personnel must also leave the facility. They should be replaced by specialists from Ukraine, under the license issued by the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine," Acting CEO of Energoatom stresses.
As a reminder, since the beginning of the russian occupation, the Zaporizhzhia NPP has already experienced eight complete blackouts and one partial one – with emergency diesel generators and safety systems started operating. In case of their failure, it threatens the development of a nuclear and radiation accident.
