“Recently provoked hazards to nuclear and radiation safety may arise at the Zaporizhzhia NPP” says Petro Kotin
Acting CEO of JSC «NNEGC «Energoatom» Petro Kotin notes that the six-year warranty period authorized by the manufacturer to the nuclear fuel utilized in all six reactors of the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP to be expired soon.
Further operation of such kind of fuel violates the terms of technical specifications within the current safety standards, and may cause integrity destruction of the fuel rods and, subsequently, radiation accident.
«All the efforts of the Russian invaders to shift serially every power units of the ZNPP between «cold stop» and «hot start» stages undermine the situation. Needless to say about the license violation issued by the State Nuclear Regulatory Commission for the operation of these nuclear power plants along with both Ukrainian and International rules of law», emphasizes P. Kotin
