Mining the ZNPP perimeter is another crime of the russians – Petro Kotin

The IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi's statement published on the IAEA website on January 19 said that the russians have once again planted mines along the perimeter of the temporarily occupied ZNPP.

”Mines along the perimeter of the ZNPP, in a buffer zone between the facility’s internal and external fences, which were previously identified by the IAEA team and were removed in November 2023, are now back in place. This is a restricted area inaccessible to operational plant personnel”, the Agency’s report says.

Director General Grossi reiterated that the presence of mines is inconsistent with the IAEA safety standards.

"The situation at the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP will remain fragile and dangerous as long as the russians are there. The only way out is complete demilitarization and de-occupation of the ZNPP and adjacent territories. Only then will it be possible to restore nuclear and radiation safety at the power plant," said Acting CEO of JSC "NNEGC "Energoatom" Petro Kotin.

According to him, russia's occupation of a nuclear facility – Zaporizhzhia NPP – is the single case in the world.

The russian military and political leadership is not ashamed to tell the world that they are committing nuclear terrorism and placing military equipment on the operating nuclear power plant site.

During the stay of the ruscists at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, the power plant experienced eight full blackouts and a partial one. Each such event is extremely dangerous for the nuclear and radiation security of the entire continent.
