Dynamic development of Energoatom enables the country to keep low electricity tariffs for the general public» – Petro Kotin
According to Petro Kotin, President of SE «NNEGC «Energoatom», at year-end 2023, the Company's power revenues increased by 30% (or UAH 44.0 bln) compared to the previous year and amounted to UAH 190.7 bln. From these funds, more than UAH 124.4 bln was paid within the framework of the PSO (public service obligations) fulfillment, or in other words, to keep low tariffs for the general public.
«Despite wartime, a significant reduction in electricity consumption, and the loss of facilities at the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP, we managed to implement a set of measures to increase the economic efficiency of Energoatom's activities. This is what enables the country to keep low electricity tariffs for the general public,» - Petro Kotin said.
So, from 2020 to 2023, the Company's revenues increased fourfold. If in 2020 the revenue amounted to UAH 48.1 bln, then in 2024 Energoatom plans to receive UAH 253.3 bln in revenue.
During the same period, the increase in the cost of electricity production was kept within 26.6%.
As a reminder, at the request of the Ministry of Energy, on December 27, 2023, the Government made amendments to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine «On the approval of the Regulation on the imposition of service obligations on electricity market members to ensure public interests in the process of functioning of the electricity market», and extended it until April 30, 2024.
The decision was made to ensure the availability of electricity for household consumers due to the difficult economic situation generated by the full-fledged military aggression of the russian federation.
