As of 10:00 am on September 5, 2022, the Zaporizhzhya NPP operates with the risk of violating radiation and fire safety standards
Currently, only power unit 6, supplying electricity to the power system of Ukraine and providing the Zaporizhzhya NPP's in-house needs, remains in operation. There are currently no remarks on the operation of equipment and safety systems.
As a reminder, on the evening of September 3, after repeated shelling by the russian invaders, the transmission line linking Zaporizhzhya NPP to the power system of Ukraine was damaged, due to which at 7:35 pm ZNPP power unit 5 was disconnected from the grid.
The IAEA mission at the Zaporizhzhya NPP keeps working.
The russian military remain at the ZNPP site while trucks with weapons and ammunition are placed in the turbine halls of the power units 1and 2.
Ukraine calls on the international community to urgently take measures for the demilitarization of the ZNPP as soon as possible, the withdrawal of all russian military personnel from the plant site and the city of Enerhodar, as well as the return of the Zaporizhzhya NPP to full control of Ukraine for the sake of the safety of the whole world.
