The completion of machinery and equipment for the future construction of the Khmelnytskyi NPP Unit 3 continues.

The third diesel generator has been recently delivered to the facility, it will become part of the backup power supply system. This equipment plays a critical role for the safety of the power unit in a case of emergency. Each of the diesel generators is capable of autonomously supplying electricity to critical systems of the plant.

It is the diesel generators that help the Zaporizhzhia NPP avoid a severe accident when the plant loses contact with all overhead lines and the power grid of Ukraine.

The completion of the third power unit is one of Energoatom’s priority projects to increase energy security of Ukraine. The Company specialists are actively working on preparations for the completion of Units 3 and 4 at the Khmelnytskyi NPP. Repair and restoration activities are currently underway at the plant site.

The completion of construction will allow for a significant increase in electricity generation at the Khmelnytskyi NPP. The new power unit will be a meaningful step towards the energy independence of the country.
