The heads of Energoatom and Hyundai discussed potential joint projects
On May 13, 2024, at the Energoatom office, a working meeting was held between CEO of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” Petro Kotin and the delegation of the South Korean Company Hyundai E&C, led by Сompany's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Young Choi.
Petro Kotin introduced the guests to the Company's new infrastructure projects, in particular regarding:
- the start of the construction project for power units 5 and 6 of the Khmelnytsky NPP using AP1000 Westinghouse technology;
- repair and restoration works on the completion of power units 3 and 4 of the Khmelnytsky NPP using the VVER-1000 technology;
- the agreement with Holtec International on the construction of factories for the production of equipment for small modular reactors and containers for spent nuclear fuel.
Head of Energoatom stresseds that the involvement of Hyundai's investments and technologies could help NNEGC in the implementation of advanced projects.
"We are extremely interested in closer cooperation with South Korea, in particular in supplying various equipment for the construction of NPPs, including a turbine island for power units,” Petro Kotin emphasized.
In his turn, Young Choi emphasized that Hyundai was ready for partnership with NNEGC, which was confirmed by the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation.
