A series of lectures for schoolchildren took place within the educational project of Energoatom “Lessons of Chornobyl”
On the eve of the anniversary of the accident that occurred at the Chornobyl NPP in 1986, about a hundred schoolchildren from the capital visited Energoatom within the framework of the educational project “Lessons of Chornobyl”. The pupils of Lyceum No. 142, School No. 78, Gymnasium “Kyivska Rus” and the Small Academy of Sciences learned how the accident at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant had affected the development of nuclear power industry in the world and in Ukraine.
The conversation with the schoolchildren combined both issues of the history of the nuclear industry, in particular the analysis of the causes of the Chornobyl NPP accident, and issues of the present, namely, the operation and safety of operating Ukrainian nuclear power plants with VVER reactors.
Energoatom specialists talked about the fundamental changes that had been made in the nuclear industry over the past decades, and the priority of safety in the professional activities of nuclear employees.
During the final survey, schoolchildren correctly identified the main condition of NPP operation – ensuring safety, which became the main conclusion, related the information heard during the meetings.
