"As an operating company, Energoatom is fully satisfied with the reliability and efficiency of the new Westinghouse fuel, the first fuel campaign of which is ongoing at the RNPP unit 2. Within three months, the American nuclear fuel, which, I will remind, was developed with the participation of the Company's specialists, is expected to be loaded into our other VVER-440 unit as well," briefed Petro Kotin, Acting Board Chairman of JSC "NNEGC "Energoatom".

He called on other European NPP operators to use a reliable alternative to nuclear fuel from the russian federation. After all, this will not only reduce the flow of funds to russia, which spends them on the war against Ukraine, but will also ensure reliable, efficient and safe operation of power units.

Additionally, Acting Board Chairman of JSC "NNEGC "Energoatom" noted that the Company is actively working on manufacturing components previously supplied from the russian federation. Currently, the adjusting production of absorber assemblies, which are used together with fuel in the control rod assemblies of the VVER-440 cores, is underway, and Energoatom will be ready to accept orders for manufacturing of these components since the 4Q of 2024.

"The work undertaken convincingly shows that the russian monopoly on fuel for VVER-440 reactors has been completely destroyed. And it is possible to stop using the fuel of the aggressor country. Ukraine's experience proves it!" emphasized Petro Kotin.

He noted that any false information regarding the use of Westinghouse nuclear fuel is only a sign of the russian information and psychological operation that has nothing to do with reality.
