A rotation of IAEA experts took place at three Ukrainian NPPs
On March 2 and 3, 2023, regular rotations of inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) took place at Rivne, South Ukraine and Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plants.
International IAEA experts must monitor compliance with the safety indicators of Ukrainian nuclear power plants, in particular, in conditions of martial law. The constant presence of Agency representatives at domestic nuclear power plants enables continuous control and monitoring of nuclear and radiation safety.
Furthermore, IAEA inspectors can also analyze the impact of russian military attacks on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine and convey information about this to the entire world community. That is why the IAEA will continue to guarantee the presence of its representatives at all Ukrainian NPPs.
As a reminder, on March 2, 2023, a rotation of IAEA experts took place at Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant (ZNPP), which has been seized by the russian military for a year. It was supposed to be held in early February but the ruscists blocked it.
Since January 2023, permanent missions of the Agency have been working at all Ukrainian nuclear power plants located on Ukraine-controlled territory. IAEA representatives have been present at the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP since early September 2022.
