Energoatom reiterates: The information that is being shared on media regarding the receipt of additional income by JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” related to the increase in electricity rates, does not correspond to reality!
For the information of all the “experts” who speculate on the government's increase in rates for the population “in favor of Energoatom”: ENERGOATOM DOES NOT RECEIVE NOT A SINGLE PENNY BECAUSE OF INCREASE OF RATES
Therefore, before the increase in the fixed price for the general public, the cost of the PSO service for JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” was UAH 125.7 billion (VAT not included), or 70.7% of the Company's net income.
Taking into account the Company's minimum own costs for ensuring electricity production and minimum capital investments, including financing measures related to nuclear safety enhancement, NPP physical security assurance, the deficit of funds for the payment of PSO amounts to UAH 17.4 billion (VAT not included) in 2024.
At the new level of fixed price for the general public, the projected cost of the PSO service for JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” will amount to UAH 108.3 billion (VAT not included) in 2024.
This will allow JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” , provided the current market conditions are maintained, to pay the cost of the PSO service in full in 2024. In fact, it will be 60% of the Company's net income.
Due to the increase in the fixed price for household consumers, the universal service providers will receive additional funds to cover their own costs, to compensate for the increase in the cost of purchasing electricity on the market, as well as to pay for the services of the Transmission System Operator (NEC “Ukrenergo”) and Distribution System Operators (Oblenergo) at increased rates.
We would like to provide independent conclusions of energy market experts: “The production cost of Energoatom's 1kWh is UAH 1.7 (VAT included, excluding PSO). In addition, 3.25 UAH per kWh, VAT included, are transmission, distribution and supply costs (the transmission rate is UAH 0.63 per kWh, and the profit of the distribution system operator and Ukrenergo for the development of networks is included here). Therefore, the production cost of state nuclear energy with delivery to the consumer is at least UAH 4.65, which is slightly higher than the new rate. Energoatom is the only energy generating company in the country that will not get anything from the rate increase in the financial sense at all.
Regarding the topic of procurements, on which some experts are speculating: for the high-quality and safe operation of nuclear power units, Energoatom make purchases of the necessary equipment, spare parts, fuel and lubricants through the Prozorro system. The system itself is built in such a way that excludes the corruption component during procurement. Moreover, the Company has established the Procurement Commission, which monitors and provides conclusions on each procurement announcement.
Therefore, accusations of Energoatom in procurement corruption have no basis. We emphasize that we are open to any inspections by the relevant state authorities!
Energoatom, as the largest and most reliable producer of electricity for our country, will continue to cover the difference in market and effective rates for the general public at its own expense.
We continue to provide the citizens and industry of Ukraine with electricity at the capacities available during outages in the summer time.
We do everything in our power to ensure that all our power units are in operation in the winter as well as all Ukrainian homes have light and heat.
Energoatom works for Ukraine and Ukrainians!
