IAEA inspection underway at Zaporizhzhya NPP
Ukrainian nuclear power plant operator Energoatom demonstrates full openness and transparency of work processes and continues active cooperation with the most credible international organizations, which monitor nuclear safety across the globe.
3 to 9 May 2021, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors are holding a regular scheduled inspection of Zaporizhzhya NPP power unit 3, during which they will perform maintenance, switching off the underwater camera, check nuclear materials in the cooling pond at the power unit before and after shipping spent nuclear fuel to the SFDSF site, install IAEA seals on the weather lids of ventilated storage containers, inspect accounting, operating and reporting documents as well as information on the installation design.
At the spent nuclear fuel dry storage facility IAEA inspectors will check the breaking and installation of seals on and between ventilated storage containers as well as information on the installation design, accounting, operating and reporting documents.
Formerly, the IAEA inspected the South-Ukraine power complex and the Rivne nuclear power plant for unreported nuclear material absence. The inspection reported that Energoatom fully complied with its international obligations.
