The central radiation monitoring panel was renovated at the specialized building 1 of Zaporizhzhya NPP. Now it is not just innovative, but also unique in its capabilities. There are no analogues at other Ukrainian NPPs yet.

According to Serhiy Novoskoltsev, the head of radiation safety department at ZNPP, the central radiation monitoring panel is the place where all radiation and technological parameters are monitored on a round-the-clock basis. The panel operator has information about:

- equipment condition of all six power units – it’s provided by automatic system of radiation monitoring of the power unit;

- radiation condition of the spent nuclear fuel drying storage facility site;

- condition of radioactive waste treatment complex new premises;

- condition of the area surrounding the plant and beyond it - it’s provided by measuring and information system "Kiltze".

Specialists of many ZNPP divisions, including designers, builders, production and processing equipment agency specialists, have been working on the renovation of the central radiation monitoring panel for almost two and a half years. A significant amount of work was performed by the thermal instrumentation and control shop. The premises were completely reconstructed and the equipment was updated. Subsequently it is also planned to renovate the radiation monitoring panel at the specialized building 2.
